Tik Tok star Khaby Lame has received Italian citizenship after many years.
The 22-year-old, who counts 148 million followers on the social network, received Italian citizenship this Wednesday, in Chivasso, a municipality of Turin in Italy.
Lame moved to Italy from Senegal when he was a baby but due to the strict Italian rules he can only now obtain the citizenship of the country.
Under Italian law, children who are born to foreign parents but live in Italy can apply for citizenship at age 18, a law that has been widely criticized as discriminatory against thousands of children who are culturally Italian but substance is denied.
Chivasso’s office organized a small intimate ceremony for the influencer.
